Happenings

Here was our fun cooking event of the day...making a chocolate pudding oreo cookie pie. We have some good friends coming over tomorrow night, so Hannah and I got down and dirty making it (well, maybe just Hannah got dirty). But, she cannot get enough of the jello pudding. We have made it once before, but when I grabbed the 2 boxes of chocolate jello pudding at Walmart this morning, you would have thought I just bought her a new car. She carried the boxes through the store and was practically salivating when we were checking out.
She was sure to tell Molly to "GET AWAY" from the pudding when we were stirring it.
See, she got just a little bit of pudding on her after she tried to lick the wisk...bad idea for a 2 year old!

Chocolate jello pudding sure does make this little one happy!

You should have seen it....

I witnessed the following exchange earlier this evening while Hannah and Jason were horsing around with one another.

Jason stopped playing and said, "Hannah, come and give me a big bear hug." Hannah stopped, was clearly thinking really hard, got up, went to her toy bucket, got a bear out and gave it to Jason to hug.
She seemed quite proud of herself too for giving her Daddy such a big bear hug.

I absolutely love getting a glimpse into the mind of a 2 year old!

My exercise buddy

Exercising is so much more fun (and entertaining) when you have someone like this doing it with you....seriously! Try it sometime. It is hard to quit when your 2 and a half year old is saying "one more time Mommy, one more time." She's a drill seargent!

It had to happen sometime

About 45 minutes after I put Hannah down for a nap I tried to find Molly. She was not anywhere downstairs, so I went upstairs to check. My first clue was that Hannah's door was open.

We have tried really hard to keep Molly out of Hannah's room during nap time since it usually gets Hannah hyper when Molly comes into her bed.
Arn't they so cute! Wouldn't you know that our little Molly would find a sweet little warm body to huddle up next to so they could both nap together. It is not gotten above 70 degrees today and it is raining outside. I love it though!!! After a Texas summer that had weeks of over 100 degree weater, I welcome this cold, rainy stuff!

Eyes and lips

This is how we found Hannah after dinner last night.
While we were cleaning up she suddenly got very quiet in the other room. I found her in our
bathroom with my drawer open. She had my mascara in her hand and was putting on her "eyes" as she calls it. She also likes to grab my chap stick and put on her "lips." She has become quite interested in makeup lately so I knew it was only a matter of time before this happened.

What do you do...

...when you pick up your child from Mother's Day Out and the conversation goes like this....

Me: How was Hannah today?

Teacher: Um, well, you know....she was...um, well....it was...it was fine, her day was OK.

Me: ?????????????? (I am sure I gave her a puzzled and slightly frustrated look)

Teacher: Well, Hannah had a bit of trouble minding today. You know, she is a smart girl, but she is quite strong willed.

Me: YOU THINK?!?!

Oh sorry, I didn't really say that to her. I know that Hannah is strong willed and our prayer for her is that God will shape that into a strong desire to serve Him and to be a leader for the glory of God. Will you join us in praying that for our sweet Hannah?
I will say that she had a great next day at Mother's day out, but today was back to struggling a bit. We are still a work in progress though (all of us!).
I am thankful for God's grace today!

Drawing fun, part 2

Here are my 2 favorite people hard at work on their drawings.

WOW, look at this girl go. Do you see that cool dinosaur that she drew?
She has some skills, don't you think?
Well, OK, that is actually Jason's drawing. I thought it was pretty good though. I mean I could not do anything even remotely close.
Here were Hannah's "drawings."

Jason drew a lion last night that was impressive too. I am telling you, I didn't know he could draw until now. And apparently, after we got the story, he lost an art contest in 1st grade to a girl who used her older sister's drawing. He said it has scarred him for life.

Drawing fun, part 1

Before last week, I was unaware that I lived with an accomplished artist. Yes, Hannah is learning, but the real artist in our house is Jason. I have been quite surprised by his artistic skills. So, Jason and Hannah have been enjoying a lot of drawing time lately, and they both seem to really enjoy this new found hobby together. For now, I will just show some cute pictures of my budding little artist. However, I have taken some photo evidence of Jason's skills, and I will post them soon. Just wait, I think you will be impressed too!!!

Sand box fun

Jason and I made Hannah a "sand box" a few weeks ago. Before you think that we went out and bought and big fancy one though, let me clarify. We went to Home Depot and bought a large plastic bin with a top and 2 big bags of play sand...and we now have a "sand box" complete with everyday things from our own kitchen. Hannah thinks it is great though and can not get enough of pouring sand into a funnel and watching it come out. I just love that 2 year olds are so fascinated by things that we just don't take the time to enjoy. I have really come to love our sand play time together because I had forgotten how much fun it is to play with sand toys in a bucket of sand. Hannah is teaching me to enjoy these things again. What a blessing!

What a joy this girl is!!!!!!

These pictures were taken a few weeks ago at Crystal's house when we went to play with everyone. We all had a good time jumping on the trampoline, especially Hannah. She and Kelly were airborne!

Strike a pose!
Things are going well around here. We are still in the thick of the terrific terrible twos. And by that I mean that Hannah goes from crying to laughing *really quick*!!! She is talking up a storm and repeats EVERYTHING you say and/or do. These really are fun times!

Psalm 86:5

We recieved a wonderful book from Mimi awhile back called God Knows My Name. It has been wonderful and Hannah has come to love it. We read it multiple times and day and usually every night before bed. She has memorized most of it and it is fun to hear her recite the words. Even though she does not fully understand what she is saying, I truly believe that kids can store these truths up in their hearts even at this age. The verse at the end of the book is Psalm 86:5. "Oh Lord, I will give glory to your name, for you love me so much." After reading the book alot and working on that verse Hannah has now memorized it. It is so great to hear the Word of God from her...what a blessing!!!! I pray that this will stir in her a deep love for God and for His word.

Anyway, she was reading the book to me the other day, and when I grabbed the camera and asked her to reread the book, this is what I got....it is long, but I love it!

Um...does she sound a *bit* southern with her GLORY word?!?!
