Such a big girl

As I was watching Hannah play the other day, I looked at her and realized that she is not such a little baby anymore. When I snapped this picture, I just stared at her thinking that she looked so big! She just looks like such a big girl here; I love it!

Favorite toy

For some reason Hannah loves bath toys. I think they are small enough for her to grip easily and they are nice to chew on (which is essential these days!) She has about 5 that she plays with all the time here at home. Well, she found the bath toys in Birmingham and carried this little star fish all over the place. Doesn't she look so big just sitting on the couch by herself?

Here she is playing on the back porch. She is pushing up nicely, but hasn't figured out to put her knees up under her yet. I guess crawling is still a stretch at this point. Notice the starfish is under her...it was never far.

Here is Hannah at bath time enjoying (big surprise) another bath toy.

Hannah speed

If I had to use one word to describe Hannah right now (besides cute, adorable, wonderful...) it would be BUSY! She is into everything! She is grabbing this, reaching for that, picking up this, and yanking at that. Now, don't get my wrong, I love this stage, but is has been interesting at times also.
So, I wanted to give you a taste for what this looks like on a daily basis. Enjoy!

First taste of BBQ

For those of you who have had the pleasure of eating at Dreamland BBQ, you know it is the real deal! Their ribs are absolutely incredible! Some of you know that I craved ribs terribly during pregnancy (Jason loved that craving!) and I still love some good ribs. So, Hannah needed the indoctrination early. How can you say no to this face? She even got the bib and everything...UM UM Good!
It makes me want ribs just thinking about it!

What in the world

I am sure as we strolled for a nice family stroll we looked quite strange to the neighbors. Is that a daycare, a MOPS group, a sweet play group, some good friends...No, its our family, coming your way!

Babies, babies, and more babies

Here are the much anticipated pictures of the 3 cousins together. I think our lofty ideas of a photo shoot with all 3 of them was much overrated! One was inevitably hungry, poopy, tired, or sick of camera flashes in all of our photo sessions (well, maybe just Hannah and Kate. Bryce was pretty content the whole time).

Kate is 2 months, Bryce is 4 months, and Hannah is 5 months.

If you want to see more pictures of this great escapade, see Laura's and Amy's blog.

Some pics of the babies

We have all 3 cousins together this weekend and we are having a blast. The living room looks a little like a church nursery at the moment with toys, babies, burp cloths, and blankets everywhere. Here are some of the pictures so far. We plan on taking some of the 3 of them together this afternoon, so I will post those later.

Here are Hannah and Bryce this morning. Bryce is 5.5 weeks younger than Hannah and will turn 4 months on Monday.

This is Hannah and Kate. Kate is 2 months old and is TINY compared to Hannah.

Baby DVDs

HHMMM, I am not sure she is quite old enough to watch the Transformers DVD yet. Although this face is quite convincing!

Hanging out in Birmingham

Hannah and I flew to Birmingham today to spend an extended weekend with the Whitlarks. This will be the first time for the 3 cousins to all be together. The flights went well today and Hannah did surprisingly good in the plane (with about 10 questionable minutes of fussiness).
Jason prayed for me to have helpful people on the flights and I did have 2 women who were overly helpful in grabbing my bag, unfolding and folding the stroller, and picking up toys that Hannah dropped...it was such a blessing!

Overall, I learned some important things on the flight today:

1. Flight attendants are your best ally!
2. Babies like turbulence (even though I don't), it puts them to sleep.
3. Don't call the airline beforehand and ask for an extra seat next to you...they can't do anything about it (even though they will tell you they can). Refer to #1.
4. Don't get a drink on the flight because your baby might grab it and dump the liquid ALL over you (UMMM, I am speaking from experience).
5. Don't make eye contact with other passengers on the flight as you walk to you seat. You will be discouraged by the looks that you are given saying "UGH, a baby on the flights...PLEASE don't let them be sitting by me!"
6. Relax and enjoy your flight.

We will have LOTS of fun pictures from the weekend, so I will post them when I get home.

The shirt says it all...

Here are some more fun pictures from last weekend.

Monday, October 15, 2007

We spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of this past week with Granny and Papaw in North Texas. We had a great time hanging out and Hannah enjoyed smiling and cuddling with them. She went on the tire swing again (which she loves) and was absolutely mesmerized by the motion; it was really cute.

Here were the words from the dedication today that I wanted to share with everyone. Even though you might not have been there with us, we would love for you to commit to these things in our lives as we commit to them for Hannah.

Covenant

Minister: In presenting these children to the Lord, do you promise, in dependence upon God's grace and with the help of the church, to teach them the gifts and claims of the Christian faith and, by prayer, word and example, to bring them up in the nurture, discipline and instruction of the Lord?

Parents: With God's help, we do.

Minister: Brothers and sisters of the community of faith, I commend to you these families. Your love, care and example are as necessary to this covenant as their faithfulness in keeping their promise. Will you do all in your power to make this church a true spiritual home for them, lending them the support of your prayers and your example?

Congregation: With God's help, we will so seek to follow Christ ourselves that these children, surrounded by love, may be nurtured in the faith and strengthened in the way that leads to life!

Presentation of Children to the Congregation

Prayer

5 months old and baby dedication

Today is Hannah's 5 month birthday!!! I cannot believe how quickly this time has flown.
Today was also baby dedication at our church, so Hannah was dedicated. It was a sweet time of worship with our church family. I have included some pictures from the service today and I will post some more later. I really want to share the words that were read today as they were very meaningful so I will write them out later.

After the ceremony a staff member takes each baby and walks them around the sanctuary to "meet" their church family, Jonathan Grant took Hannah and walked her around and she seemed to enjoy taking in all the new faces around her. She is clutching the church bulletin in her hand and I was not about to take it from her since it seemed to pacify her.

This is a somewhat long video of Hannah and Molly, but the ending is well worth it in my opinion. Sorry about the abundance of posts with Hannah and Molly, they just always seem to be doing cute stuff together.

Big Girl Sippy Cup

Hannah has become fascinated with any food or drinks that Jason and I have (especially drinks). She will reach for the cups and yank them to her mouth (and spill them if you are not careful). So, we decided to buy her a sippy cup of her own to hopefully satisfy her need for cups. Since I don't ever put anything in it, she has not fully figured out its use, but that will come in time.
I now it is green with a sailboat on it, but this is the only color they had in the cup that I wanted.

Trading places

Molly likes to think the boppy is just a nice warm place for her to curl up. Oh well, Hannah doesn't seem to mind and she certianly doesn't know the difference.
